Based upon a review of SEC filings for the quarter ending 9/30/99, the Microsoft Corporation no longer pays federal income tax on current income. This is also true for the quarter ending 12/31/99. Taxes now paid are from prior years that were deferred into the future. What this means is that someone cutting hair at Great Clips for $10 per hour pays more federal income tax than the Microsoft Corporation.
More surprising and detailed in the article is an explanation regarding how the balancing of the federal budget has occurred on the backs of Microsoft's competitors. Also detailed are the Gates 7, those public and private officials whose work has resulted, whether by accident or design, in a remarkable pyramid scheme that is pilfering the public and private retirement systems just as Charles Keating plundered the Savings and Loan banks.
